Gerold William Jacobs, 67, of Oblong, IL, passed away at 2:45 P.M. on Sunday, August 23, 2026, at the Linda E. White Hospice House in Evansville, IN.

Gerold was born on November 22, 1958, in Robinson, IL, the son of Herold William Jacobs and Martha Elizabeth (Spade) Jacobs. He married Karen Sue Perkins on July 2, 1983, and she preceded him in death on December 23, 2014.

Gerold is survived by his sister, Patty Ann Jayne of Camargo, IL; and eight nieces and nephews whom he thought of and loved as his own children: Jim Jayne of Camargo, IL; Debbie Adkins of Ashmore, IL; Jerry (Lisa) Jayne of Oakland, IL; Diane Christenson of Sidney, IL; Bobby (Brenda) Littlejohn of Palestine, IL; Amy (Randy) Napier of Annapolis, IL; Phillip (Carey) Littlejohn of Annapolis, IL; and Anthony Littlejohn. He is also survived by several great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Karen; his sister, Janet Littlejohn; two brothers-in-law, Robert Littlejohn and Leonard Jayne; one great-niece; two great-nephews; and one great-great-nephew.

Gerold was a 1976 graduate of Oblong High School and later earned a Mechanic’s Degree from Olney Community College. Throughout his working life, he held several positions and took pride in his work. He began by working alongside his father as an Oil Johnny and later worked for Stewart Security before becoming a correctional officer at Wabash Valley Correctional Institution in Carlisle, IN.

Gerold was a member of White Oak Christian Church in Oblong. He will be remembered by those who knew and loved him as a devoted husband, brother, uncle, and friend whose family meant so much to him.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 P.M. on Sunday, August 30, 2026, at White Oak Christian Church, Oblong, IL with Pastor Alvin Neidigh officiating. Burial will follow in White Oak Cemetery in Oblong, IL. Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. on Sunday at the church prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Linda E. White Hospice House, c/o Deaconess Foundation, 600 Mary St., Evansville, IN 47710-9985.

Pulliam Funeral Home, 302 E. Main St., Oblong, IL 62449, is assisting the family with arrangements.
