(Robinson) — The Robinson Police Department has moved. The RPD took to social media Friday to announce that as of today at 8 a.m., they will be operating out of their new location at 11385 N. Trimble Rd. In May, Robinson Mayor, Mike Shimer, announced the purchase of the former “MTI building” on the northeast side of Robinson. According to Shimer, the move completes a nearly three-year effort to modernize the Robinson Police Department into a new, more functional home. Authorities say the lobby hours will be 8 a.m. to Noon and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. The telephone number will remain the same and, as always, if you need the police “outside of those hours,” you can call dispatch at 618-546-1515 or, in an emergency, dial 911. Shimer says this move has addressed a “critical need” for the police department’s growth and professional operation, allowing for the transformation of the previous RPD location within the Civic Center into much-needed space for city records, operational storage, and a possible additional office, and creating space specifically for handicap-accessible restrooms.
