(Oblong) — The Oblong Village Board meets this afternoon for its regular monthly meeting. The Board is set to hear from Patsy Foltz regarding ditch drainage and Angie Catt from the Oblong Chamber regarding street closures for the Fall Follies. In other business, the Village Board will set Trick-or-Treat night and times, discuss and possibly approve a revolving loan application, a TIF Grant application, and an ordinance banning the possession, sale, and delivery of Kratom. According to Google, Kratom is a tropical tree native to Southeast Asia whose leaves contain chemical compounds that act on the brain’s opioid receptors. They will also review an ordinance amending the liquor code regarding the age of a persons serving alcoholic drinks and approve an engineering agreement for the “Safe Routes to School” project. The Oblong Village Board meets this afternoon at 5 p.m. in the Farley Room of Village Hall.
